Courses and Seminars

Here is a list of my current and former teachings with links to teaching material and some (useful) resources and documentation.

Current Teachings (in 2011-2012) at SBS-EM

2011 Management Information Systems (GESTS711)
An elective course on management information systems, taught in the second year of the Postgraduate Master Programme (MCC). The objective of this course is to introduce the main components of information systems and their organisational and strategic impact. At the end of the course, students should be able to understand the building blocks of enteprise information systems and applications, to understand their organizational complements, and to have a sense of the main challenges to manage IT within organisations.

2011 Foundations of Computing and Information Systems (INFOS202)
A core course on the foundations of computing and information systems, taught in the second year of the Bachelor's programme in Economics. This course has two objectives: (1) to introduce the basics of and some recent development in information and communication technologies (ICT), mainly those aspects that matter to economists, and (2) to develop the ability of students to structure algorithms and develop small programs in a procedural or web language.

Seminars

Management Information Systems at a glance (in French)
Handouts of a seminar I have been giving on a regular basis within the context of the introductory management core course of Bruno van Pottelsberghe. The session gives an overview of management information systems and an introduction to their strategic implications: IT-enabled transformation, business process reengineering, IT Management. (March 2011)

Patent mining as a source of technological intelligence (in French)
(Avril 2010)

Open Innovation at a glance
An introduction to open innovation, largely inspired by (and based upon) Henry Chrsbrough's books and Eric Von Hippel's courseware (borrowed from the MIT Open Courseware). (August 2009)

Introduction to Text Mining
An introduction to Text Mining technologies and Statistical Language Processing: Pre-processing, representation (the vector space model and its reduction), analysis (information retrieval, classification, clustering), evaluation (precision, recall, and other measures). (October 2008)

The (financial) value of patents (in French)
(Avril 2008)
